Ex-Swan Xavier Richards endured a frustrating end to 2016.

After playing in a losing grand final, he turned down a two-year contract extension with Sydney, believing he was worth more money that was being offered.

He then requested a trade, but after being unable to find a new home during the trade period, he was later delisted by the Sydney.

After being overlooked as a delisted free agent, despite training with Essendon, Richards signed with NEAFL side, Sydney University.

While it is certainly a few steps below the AFL, Richards dominated for the Sydney University seconds side on Saturday, booting 13 goals for his new team.

Richards' Sydney Uni defeated Manly Warringah, 24.15 (159) to 2.4 (16).

He played 10 games in 2016, averaging 13 disposals, 5.5 marks and 1.8 tackles and played a total of 12 matches for the Swans.
