Former Brisbane star and Giant Joel Patfull has been involved in a controversial saga on Australian reality TV show The Block, alongside his partner and influencer Elle Ferguson, in an episode which aired on Monday night.

After just two days on the show, the couple reportedly left abruptly without saying their goodbyes to the cast and crew, with host Scott Cam claiming the show was not 'on brand' for the couple.

There have been reports that family reasons explained their sudden exit but Cam called the act "un-Australian" and "p*ss poor", with fans of the show divided about the circumstances surrounding the exit.

The departure of Patfull and Ferguson had been circulating in the media for weeks leading up to the start of the new season, with the episode finally airing to the public on Monday night.

Patfull played 220 AFL games across his career, with 182 of those coming as a Lion and 38 as a Giant in his last few seasons.

The now 37-year-old is a two-time Merrett-Murray medallist, winning the award in consecutive seasons in 2012 and 2013 at the Lions.

Ahead of the 2015 season, Patfull was traded to the fresh-faced Giants side and played there for two seasons before retiring from playing at the end of 2016, however, remained on the rookie list for the 2017 season.
