Riding the wave of his former team, Fremantle, Hayden Ballantyne has decided to name the newest addition to his racehorse stable "Wharfie Time".
Ballantyne, who played 171 games and kicked 254 goals for the Dockers, has joined in the hype over Fremantle's now-famous in-game activation. The name was confirmed with the Registrar of Racehorses earlier in the week.
When the Dockers are up or down by a small margin late in a game at their home at Optus Stadium, AC/DC's Hells Bells plays out to the raptures of the purple haze faithful.
Reports surfaced during the week that Ballantyne, now a racehorse trainer located in Perth under the Hayden Ballantyne Racing moniker, had put the Wharfie Time name forward for his new yearling filly.
Ballantyne's beloved Dockers have utilised Wharfie Time well in 2026.
Fremantle first used it to overtake Hawthorn late in Round 9, with the crowd going wild as the Dockers piled on goals in the dying minutes to win the match.
The football public then called for Wharfie Time to return for the remainder of the season.
It took until the last minute of Friday night's Semi-Final against Geelong to get their wish. Once again, Wharfie Time worked, with the crowd going bananas and the Dockers kicking a goal 30 seconds later to cement their win.
Wharfie Time originated from a pre-game speech by former Fremantle captain Matthew Pavlich, which he gave to his players prior to a Fremantle-Hawthorn game in 2009.
"Enjoy the moment. Enjoy winning the hard ball. Hey, put on your Superman capes, boys. It's Wharfie time. Let's go," Pavlich said
