Former Adelaide forward and Woodville-West Torrens midfielder James Rowe has been handed a two-game ban for a dangerous tackle on ex-teammate Patrick Parnell.
The Eagles faced Glenelg in a do-or-die semi-final at Adelaide Oval on Sunday, with the latter losing by four points in a close encounter.
In the final term, Rowe and Parnell were going after a loose ball, and Parnell collected the footy before Rowe could get there, prompting a tackle that went over the boundary line.
The vision indicated Parnell hitting his head on the ground before looking distressed and in trouble, his arms raised in the air and his eyes closed, reflective of a head knock.
The SANFL Match Review Panel (MRP) graded the incident as careless conduct, high impact and high contact, constituting a two-week ban. An early guilty plea is also set at two matches.
Rowe's team advanced to the preliminary final against the Sturt Blues, but under the current suspension, which has yet to be challenged, he will be unavailable for the match as well as the grand final, if the Eagles progress.
Rowe was arguably Woodville's best player, collecting 24 possessions, eight tackles, seven clearances and three inside 50s.
The pair spent two seasons together at Adelaide in the AFL side.
