AFL journalist Tim Watson is disheartened by St Kilda's performance after the team was beat up by North Melbourne by 52-points on Good Friday, claiming that they have "plateaued as a team."
The former Saints coach appeared on SEN Breakfast and spoke about the team's disappointing start to the AFL season.
He was concerned that the assets they were able to gain during the off-season have been counterbalanced by the retirements of their cagey veterans Nick Riewoldt and Leigh Montagna, among other reasons.
โPersonnel-wise theyโre weaker than what they were. Montagna was still a very important player still last year, because he was getting in behind the defence and he was their best kicking player behind the ball. Theyโve lost that," Watson told SEN Breakfast.
โThey have plateaued as a team. I donโt see them going beyond what they have done over the past couple of years."
โYou can come away from that game believing that they (North) have a better future than St Kilda."
St Kilda have the chance to tilt their current 1-1 record in their favour as they take on Adelaide at Etihad Stadium this Saturday night for round three.
