Former Adelaide Crow Lachie Sholl has opened up on his delisting in a revealing interview as he believes there is still footy ahead of him.
Speaking on SEN SA's Breakfast with Bicks and Walshy, Sholl said he knew what was going to happen in his exit meeting with the club.
"I think throughout the year you do get an idea, and I hadn't played for the whole year so I think personally the writing was on the wall a little bit going in," he said.
"In a weird way it somewhat prepared me for it.
"They obviously say thanks for everything and yeah I pretty well just said my thank yous and that was it. You do get a feeling going in and I suppose it happens every year so it's all part of it.
"Everyone is different of course but I think it plays out different for everyone."
Sholl added that he does not think his AFL journey is done and indicated that he is still open to playing footy in the top flight.
"I would love to [play at AFL level]," Sholl said.
"I would love another opportunity in any capacity really, in terms of opportunity it'll play out in the next couple of weeks.
"If something comes up then great, but opportunities don't come up for everyone."

Sholl was asked by former Crow Mark Bickley about what he would say if an opportunity with expansion club Tasmania arose.
"I am open to all options at this point," Sholl said.
"I would love to keep playing footy and if that was to equate to an opportunity in a year's time I think I would jump at that.
"I definitely wanna keep going with footy but to what capacity we'll see I suppose."
He also reflected on his time with Adelaide and the connections made at the club.
"In terms of the football side of things, if you told me (my time at the Crows had) gone like that I'd be absolutely stoked," he said.
"I walk away with lifelong mates and connections so it's something that I think is pretty invaluable. As I reflect it's all pretty positive stuff."
Sholl leaves the club having played 79 games for the Crows across six years, earning a rising star nomination in 2020 and 2021. He leaves alongside Chayce Jones and Tyler Welsh who were also delisted.
