We're back for Round 8 of Zero Hanger’s weekly ‘five useless stats’ series.

Every week Aaron Delaporte from Useless AFL Stats will take a look at the top five most useless, but captivating, statistics from the weekend.

Round 8 was another that provided plenty to look at in the way of weird, bizarre and ultimately Useless Stats.

4. The Gulden Slipper

The goal assist was first introduced into official AFL stats in 2003 and Sydney’s Errol Gulden has equalled the record for most consecutive games from debut with at least one goal assist a game.

Although his overall output may have slightly diminished since his debut, which earnt him a Rising Star nomination, his ability to find targets inside 50 has been constant, with his 13 goal assists only behind Scott Pendlebury on 15.

Interestingly, the player he currently shares the record with is a former Pendlebury teammate in Sam Dwyer. Dwyer, who debuted for Collingwood as a 26-year old, played just 29 games with the Magpies from 2013-15.

For Rising Star eligible players, Danyle Pearce had 17 goals assists in 2006, while Joel Selwood had 22 in 2007, including four in the grand final, which really gives Gulden something to aim at.
