St Kilda is a club that has publicly stated it is after ready-made talent and the Saints certainly aren't concerned with putting noses out of joint while they do it.

The bayside club was the talk of the town last trade period, snaring the likes of Jack Silvagni and Tom De Koning from Carlton, Sam Flanders from Gold Coast and Liam Ryan from West Coast.

But who will the Saints target this off-season?

Sam Marshall

Could the Saints steal a pair of Lions from Brisbane?

While the club's pursuit of Neale is well documented, St Kilda should also be targeting young midfielder Sam Marshall.

In just his second season, Marshall is currently playing a level of football that would see him busy in the engine room of most clubs across the league.

But given Brisbane's clear depth in that area, Marshall has been forced to bide his time in the VFL where he is currently averaging 23.6 disposals, 4.7 clearances and 3.6 tackles per game.

Despite playing in the Lions' grand final win in 2025, Marshall has only played two games in 2026.

Taken with pick 25 in the 2024 national draft, Marshall was an Academy product from Brisbane.

He has 13 games and one goal to his name across his first one-and-a-half seasons and is reported to be considering a move for more game time at the end of the year.

As a draftee he signed a two-year contract which runs out at the end of 2026. Despite that the Saints would still have to trade for him or risk bringing the 20-year-old in through the pre-season draft.
