Hawthorn is expected to be an active club in this year's AFL player movement space.
Unapologetic in their desire to improve the list, it has been widely publicised that another midfielder could be the missing piece for the Hawks in their quest for silverware.
The Hawks have been closely linked to two guns which is likely to account for the majority of the club's focus and capital during October, while some other pieces around the edges could make sense to increase the club's depth albeit there have not been strong links.
Zach Merrett
After Hawthorn was unable to secure a trade last year, Merrett is odds-on to again request a trade to the Hawks imminently. Merrett returned to the Bombers this year and played every game, averaging 27 disposals and playing every match but will almost certainly seek the success of Hawthorn. He would provide terrific support for Will Day, Jai Newcombe and the improved Josh Ward, giving the Hawks more options in the engine room.
