1. Bad Kicking is Bad Football

West Coast blew a chance to go one game clear of Richmond on Friday night after losing to the Swans by 15 points. The Eagles had 63 inside 50’s compared to Sydney’s 52, however they weren’t able to capitalise and ended up kicking 7.15. Teams have lost grand finals in the past because of having the yips in front of goal, so West Coast will need to focus on fixing this as it could come back to bite them at the pointy end of the season.

2. Robbie Gray is in a league of his own

Robbie Gray showed all his class with 28 disposals, 14 of which were contested and six clearances to go with three goals in wet and slippery conditions on Thursday night at the Adelaide Oval. One of Gray’s goals was a classic dribble goal from the boundary line that was reminiscent of one of the game’s great forwards, Peter Daicos.

Gray is integral in Port’s chances of winning their first premiership since 2004 and there’s every chance he could win his fourth John Cahill Medal this year as Port’s Best and Fairest player.

3. The Hawks are a real chance to make the top eight this year.

The Hawks have now beaten Port Adelaide, Adelaide, Collingwood, Melbourne and Geelong this season to prove that they are a contender this year. With a favourable draw for the rest of the year, the Hawks are a real chance to make the top eight.

In Shaun Burgoyne’s 350th game, the Hawks smashed the Crows by 56 points at the MCG on Saturday night and proved that they could do some damage if they make the finals in 2018.

4. The Tigers are the Kings of the MCG

Last year’s premiers responded to a disappointing loss to Port last week with an impressive 18-point victory over the Cats at the MCG on Sunday. It was amazingly their 16th win in a row at the MCG for the Tigers.

The Tigers will be hard to beat this year as they chase back to back flags. It’s difficult to back against them, especially if they make it to the big dance at their fortress, the MCG.

5. The Saints did it for Richo!

The Saints produced an incredible comeback on Saturday night at Metricon Stadium with a two-point win after being down by 31 points at three quarter time.

It was one of the club’s best wins in a long time and put a smile on the face of under the pump coach, Alan Richardson.

The win showed a lot of character after their loss to the Swans the previous week and the song was certainly sung with a lot of gusto.
