Former Carlton and Brisbane star Brendan Fevola has signed with the Hasting Blues in the MPNFL league next year.
With reports that Fev wanted to put on the boots after suffering from an Achilles injury, Hastings decided to give it a shot.
โIt all happened pretty quickly to be honest,โ Hastings coach Ricky Ferraro told the Herald Sun on Thursday.
โThere were rumours he was going to Somerville. A few of our people obviously knew that and thought, โoh well, letโs give him a call and see what we can doโ.โ
The two time Coleman medalist met with Ferraro on Thursday as he put on a Hastings Jumper and agreed to a one year contract deal.
โHeโs keen. Itโs not just a cameo game, heโs with us full-time,โ Ferraro said.
โHeโs got to miss a few games here and there with his work commitments and obviously with The Footy Show and that sort of stuff but I asked him if he was keen and heโs actually got that excitement about playing footy again after having a year off.
โItโs going to be good to bring back some excitement to the footy club.โ
With the club struggling on and off the field, this is a perfect way to kick start their 2019 season and have a shot at success.
โWe all know how good he can be,โ Ferraro said. โHe was looking fit.
โWe really promote being a family club with all the netballers and the womenโs football โฆ heโs obviously got three daughters and Alex and heโs got a fourth daughter on the way in November so for him to come here is really exciting for everyone.
โItโs been a tough year for us on field and off field so itโs great to get some excitement."
