Each year AFL coaches are either put under scrutiny or praised for what they have done with the club's list and where their side has finished at the end of the year.
Whether it's a club going through a rebuild, a premiership contender, or a side failing to fulfil expectations, here is every coach ranked as safe, pressure-building, or under the pump heading into the 2027 season.
Luke Beveridge (Western Bulldogs)
Pressure building
Beveridge is contracted until the end of 2027, which will take him into his 13th season coaching the Western Bulldogs. He is a premiership coach, but he has always been in the spotlight about not being able to get the best out of his side with the players he has.
On paper, a midfield consisting of Marcus Bontompelli, Ed Richards, Tom Liberatore and Matthew Kennedy looks like a premiership-contending team. Chuck them alongside players such as Ryley Sanders, Bailey Dale, Joel Freijah and Aaron Naughton, and it's hard to believe they're only going to make a wildcard spot.
The Dogs are once again locked into the finals in 2026, but if the Bulldogs fail to go deep into September this year, by the end of next year, Beveridge may be moved on.
