Essendon has just announced they have delisted Joshua Eyre, a former Next Generation Academy player.

Eyre was taken at pick 39 in the 2020 draft but was yet to make a senior debut for the Bombers.

“Josh joined us as a developing tall position player from our NGA region. He is a dedicated young man, who has shown a commitment to improvement throughout his two years,” General Manager of Football Josh Mahoney said of Eyre.

The 20-year-old was given the opportunity for an AFL lifeline, through the pre-season supplemental selection period, and will re-join the club during the pre-season training campaign.

“List positions become increasingly tight as clubs approach the draft and we were not in the position at this point to offer Josh another contract. Josh will upon approval continue to train with the club leading up to the draft,” Mahoney revealed.

The key position player will be hoping to break into the Essendon lineup and be a part of new coach Brad Scott's plans for 2023.
