Police have allegedly found ecstasy tablets and ice pipes inside former AFL coach Mark Thompson's bedroom during a raid in early January.

The allegations were made during a bail hearing by Victorian Police in Geelong on Monday, mentioning that Thompson's DNA traces were found on the packets of ice, amphetamines and an LSD tablet.

The premiership player and coach has not yet been charged despite the allegations, however Police say he will remain a "person of interest" in the ongoing investigation due to his connection with a former housemate.

Thomas Windsor, Thompson's former 28-year-old housemate is facing charges for allegedly trafficking amphetamine, ice and ecstasy.

Thompson has reportedly flown to the United States after the police raid of January 5th and is yet to return.

Bombers legend Matthew Lloyd spoke out about Mark Thompson's allegations on Footy Classified, saying what has happened is "so sad."

โ€œHe was my first ever captain and one of the most respected people Iโ€™ve ever been involved with in football,โ€ Lloyd told Footy Classified.

โ€œItโ€™s so sad to see whatโ€™s become of Mark of late.โ€

AFL broadcaster Tim Watson also chimed in on Thompson's situation and with Essendon's 1993 premiership reunion approaching in a few weeks, he says he hopes to see him there.

"Iโ€™m hopeful, given he was such a significant part of that team, he was the captain. Not just that, he was such a strong leader around the club at that time," Watson told SEN Breakfast.

โ€œA lot of people would be disappointed if they didnโ€™t see him at the reunion.โ€

"I know a lot of people have reached out to him and have not been able to make contact."
