The Eagles are hoping to gain a list exemption that would allow luckless premiership player Daniel Venables to remain on the club's list whilst battling ongoing concussion issues, per The Age.

Venables has been sidelined for the past 18 months after copping a knee to the head midway through the 2019 season, with West Coast and the AFL in talks of what options would be available for the 22-year-old.

The Eagles are hoping to keep Venables' career alive in a deal that would keep him tied to the club and part of their program whilst still giving the club the flexibility to use his list spot if his AFL comeback came to a halt.

It is understood that the league has shown some support to the idea as Venables was placed on the long-term injury list and and is out of contract.

Another option for the Eagles is to rookie-list the forward to open up opportunities for him to train pre-season after showing immense improvement in the last several months.

West Coast are likely make their decisions based on medical assessments due to his battle with concussion.

A second list lodgement for clubs will occur on Monday.
