Gold Coast and Sydney have officially agreed upon a deal that will send Suns forward Malcolm Rosas Jnr to the Swans, granting him his desired trade request which was reported last week.

The Suns are sending Rosas Jnr and Pick 62 to Sydney, while the Swans will provide Gold Coast with Picks 51 and 69 in return.

The Suns academy graduate has struggled to cement his spot under Damien Hardwick in the past two seasons, playing 11 senior games over the past 24 months as the likes of Academy prospects Leo LombardJake Rogers, as well as Jy FarrarBen LongBailey Humphrey and Connor Budarick were favoured over him.

Sydney's interest in the 24-year-old comes as Tom Papley requires more assistance inside the forward 50, with Rosas certainly capable of dynamising their forward line, providing plenty of forward pressure and speed in the front half.

Rosas kicked 15 goals in as many VFL matches in 2025, and developed his midfield game in the reserves, notably recording 25 disposals and four tackles against Collingwood's VFL side in Round 16.

Sydney Swans Executive General Manager of AFL Football, Leon Cameron, says Rosas Jnr will be a valuable addition.

“It's great that Malcolm has selected our football club and we are excited to have completed the trade today with the Gold Coast,” Cameron said.

“We believe Malcolm will complement our current forward line with his ability to run and carry and will provide a point of difference.”
