Gold Coast has traded pick 58 to Geelong for ruckman Zac Smith, with the Cats then handing that same pick to St Kilda for Jack Steven.
Smith returns to the Suns after four years for the Cats, which followed on from his first five seasons at the Suns.
Steven played for the Geelong Falcons in the TAC Cup, and was close to moving back to Geelong during last year's trade period, but has received his wish 12 months later.
The move for Steven will help the Saints land Bradley Hill, with pick 58 set to eventually land at Fremantle.
