Hawthorn has completed a trade for GWS forward Jon Patton, with the Hawks sending a future fourth-round pick to the Giants for the former number one pick.

Patton has suffered three knee reconstructions throughout his career, but has been fit and training for the past few months, despite not playing a game this season.

The 26-year-old has played 89 games for the Giants, booting 130 goals.

“We wish Jon all the best,” GWS' General Manager of Football Wayne Campbell told the Giants' website.

“Jon has been part of building the club to where we are today and we thank him for his contribution over the past eight years.

“We hope a fresh start at the Hawks helps Jon return to his best on the football field.”
