Adelaide veteran Sam Jacobs has joined the Giants, with the 31-year-old moving to his third club.

The Giants have given up a 2020 fourth-round selection for the big Crow.

Jacobs opted to leave the Crows after a strong season from Reilly O'Brien left him out of the senior side, with the veteran ruckman playing just five games in 2019 due to a mixture of injury and O'Brien's form.

Jacobs' previous season-low tally of games played while at Adelaide was 19, back in 2011 in his first season at the club.

The Giants have added to their ruck depth, after Dawson Simpson retired late in the season. Jacobs will battle it out with Mumford for the number one ruck spot next season.
