West Coast will receive Pick 2 (band 1 compensation) for the departure of forward Oscar Allen, as the 2025 West Coast captain makes his move to the East Coast to join the reigning premiers.

Allen joins Brisbane as a restricted free agent, with the Eagles opting not to match the Lions' offer in order to claim the AFL's draft compensation.

The extra selection adds to West Coast's immense first-round haul for the 2025 National Draft, which currently includes Pick 1 and 12. The Eagles also hold Picks 34, 38, 53 and 58.

Allen kicked 12 goals in as many matches this season before suffering a season-ending knee injury in June. He was West Coast's leading goalkicker in 2023, booting a career-high 53 majors.

“I'm ecstatic about the opportunity to contribute to a really special group,” Allen said in a statement.

“My partner Lorna and I are incredibly excited to join the Brisbane Lions Football Club, and it will be an exciting adventure for us moving forward.

“We've already received an amazing amount of support from the Club, and we cannot wait to get to know the players and staff.”

The signing comes after the Eagles and Lions agreed to a trade that saw Brandon Starcevich head to West Coast, with the Lions pocketing Picks 17 and 23, among others.
