Brisbane superstar Lachie Neale's move to Collingwood has been confirmed with the Lions netting a Band 3 compensation selection, which ends up being Pick 39.

Collingwood lodged the paperwork for Neale's move late on Friday afternoon, the first day of free agency.

AFL Media is reporting that Neale has signed a three-year contract with the Pies. The deal is expected to be around the $900,000-$1,000,000 per season mark.

The deal has netted Brisbane a second round selection as compensation, meaning the Lions now have picks 18, 38, 39, 49, 54 and 75 in this year's draft.

This is Neale's third club after spending his first seven seasons at Fremantle, winning two best-and-fairests.

The 33-year-old then moved to Brisbane at the end of 2018 where he elevated his career. Neale captained the club, won two Brownlow Medals, four All-Australians, three premierships and four best-and-fairests.

Neale is expected to be a walk up start into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.

The ball magnet midfielder will now team up with fellow Brownlow Medallist and superstar Nick Daicos to lead the Magpies midfield in 2027.

Collingwood is expected to acquire GWS veteran Jesse Hogan this off-season via a cheap trade.

The Magpies are also in the market for Richmond halfback flanker Jayden Short and Carlton ruck Flynn Riley.
