The Victorian government will hold a state funeral service for the late, great Neale Daniher on June 10 at 1pm.

The service will be held at the MCG, with people able to enter through Gate 2 from 12pm. The event will also be livestreamed for people unable to attend with the link available closer to the service.

Daniher passed away on Monday morning after a 13-year battle with Motor Neurone Disease. A co-founder of the FIGHTMND cause, Daniher and his charity have contributed over $141 million to support the search for an MND cure.

The Big Freeze, launched in 2015, has become an integral part of the AFL community and is now one of the bigger events of the season. Started by Daniher and the FIGHTMND foundation, the Big Freeze sees celebrities plunge into an ice-filled pool at the MCG prior to the King's Birthday match between Melbourne and Collingwood to raise funds for the charity.

The 2025 Australian of the Year will be remembered for his bravery in fighting MND and how he inspired the nation to follow suit.

Daniher will also be remembered for his contributions to the AFL world as a talented player at Essendon, before proving himself as one of the best coaches in the league at Melbourne.
