St Kilda is prepared to match rivals Adelaide and Port Adelaide in its offer to star youngster Nasiah Wangaeen-Milera, with details on the deal coming to light.

Following a career-best night where Wanganeen-Milera collected 43 disposals in the 20-point loss to Hawthorn, Herald Sun's Jay Clark spoke on the terms the Saints were willing to part with to retain the 22-year-old.

"St Kilda, we can tell you, has formally offered its contract to Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera," Clark said on Fox Footy's Super Saturday Live.

"It's a two-year deal worth about $1.2 million-plus (per) season. But this is choose-your-own-adventure. He can stay for up to eight or 10 years if he likes, but it's a two-year minimum.

"Importantly, it matches the money on offer at Adelaide and Port Adelaide."

Saturday night's performance was the second-best (23.7 player rating points) of his 79 games per WheeloRatings.

Wanganeen-Milera's staggering 1010 metres gained, 11 score involvements, eight inside 50s and four clearances, spending time across half back and through the midfield.

St Kilda coach Ross Lyon said post-game that the evolution of the South Australian is clear, moulding off the likes of Crows legend Andrew McLeod.

"We did that early [in his career] and he wasn't quite conditioned for it, his groins got a little bit sore. But we know what we're building. Ultimately, Andrew McLeod used to play half-back, midfield, forward when he won his Norm Smith. Malcolm Blight moved him through the lines," Lyon said.

"We know he's got half-back, we know he's got midfield, and I think he can do a bit of forward stuff. We've got a long-term plan that he becomes great, rather than just a great half-back."

The Saints are also heavily tipped to land Carlton free agent Tom De Koning, while they missed out on Port Adelaide's Miles Bergman, who penned a two-year extension recently.

GWS' Leek Aleer is still weighing up his options, with the Moorabbin club being linked to the defender.
