Good news for footy fans in Western Australia as West Coast and Fremantle are set to face off up against each other in front of a capacity Optus Stadium crowd in Round 7.

Reports are circulating that the AFL will be given the go-ahead either tomorrow or Friday when they release Rounds 6 and 7.

WA Premier Mark McGowan gave the green light for Perth stadia to reach capacity crowds from July 18, meaning that 60,000 fans could attend the West Coast and Fremantle clash at Optus Stadium.

Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir said he is looking forward to playing in front of full crowds.

“It is exciting for WA football. It is exciting for the two teams involved. It has come around a little quicker than everyone expected but it is great news,” he told 7News

“We would love it to be a home game. We would love our fans there supporting us.

“We want to give an opportunity for our passionate fans who have supported us through this rough time to get to our games but we will let the AFL work through the logistics of that and what will be will be, I guess.”

Both clubs will still be placed in their Queensland hub for the Round 6 fixtures before immediately heading back to Western Australia where both clubs will be made to quarantine from their homes.

The AFL is seeking an agreement to the Western Australia government to allow both the Eagles and the Dockers to face off against each other during their quarantine period.
