Fremantle's Bailey Banfield has opened up on his exit meeting at Fremantle.
The 28-year-old was let go after 119 games but he managed just one this year after his debut in 2018.
"I walked in and it was (footy manager) Joe Brierty, JL (Justin Longmuir) and David Walls, our list manager so as soon as you see that, that was kind of confirmation," Banfield said on SEN.
"I've got a lot of respect for all of those guys and the footy club as a whole and I think it was reciprocated in that meeting and in what followed as well.
"It's not an easy position and I'm sure those guys hate delivering that news but I felt like it was delivered as well as possible.
"I wasn't planning on or thinking I would get emotional in that meeting having seen it coming. I felt like I processed it already but when they started talking, I broke down.
"It was a tough 10 minutes or so and then you walk into the player welfare manager's office and had a chat to a few of the other coaches I'm close to there and I snuck out the back door there.
"I will clean out my locker in the next couple of days and go back and speak to the broader playing group and staff and say my final goodbyes there."
His delisting came after he took out this year's Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award.
