A recently delisted West Coast Eagles pair are eyeing AFL lifelines, signing with the Subiaco Lions in the WAFL.

Defender Luke Foley and midfielder Greg Clark have both joined the fray at Subiaco after being offloaded by the Eagles following the conclusion of the 2023 campaign.

Foley and Clark were two of six post-season delistings made by West Coast as it shakes up its playing list in preparation for next season.

Foley, who played five seasons and accumulated 32 AFL games of experience, joins up with the Lions for the 2024 WAFL season, marking his return to the club from which he was drafted in 2018.

While he has signed with Subiaco for next season, The West Australian understandsย that Foley is eager to receive a train-on with another AFL club this upcoming pre-season.

After playing a career-high 16 games in 2022, Foley struggled to cement his spot in the team this year and only managed to feature nine times this season due to injuries and poor form.

This allowed him to play 36 games for the Eagles in the WAFL. Producing multiple good performances in the reserves competition, he finished the year positively. One of his highlight performances was registering a goal and 20 touches in Round 17 against the Peel Thunder.

As for Clark, The West Australian reported that West Perth, West Coast, Claremont, Perth and Swan Districts were all interested in the services of Clark, but the midfielder decided to return to Subiaco after winning the 2021 Grand Final with the Lions; earning the Simpson Medal.

Following the retirement of club champions Nic Naitanui, Luke Shuey and Shannon Hurn, Foley and Clark were cut by the Eagles, along with Samo Petrevski-Seton, Xavier O'Neill, Isiah Winder, and Connor West.

Subiaco released a club statement welcoming the pair back to the Lions.

"Both Luke and Greg are local products from our metro district and as well as being good footballers are great Subiaco people, so getting them back to the Lions was a very high priority," said Subiaco Football Manager Kristian Dicton.
