The Scott Pendlebury game record-breaking moment is fast approaching, and Collingwood is pulling out all the stops to celebrate arguably the club's greatest ever player.
One part of the celebration is for Pendlebury to wear a gold number 10 on his guernsey for the match, which is expected to be played against West Coast at the MCG in Round 11.
However, a fellow legend of the Magpies in 313-gamer and premiership captain Tony Shaw isn't a fan of the golden celebration.
“I don't like it," Shaw said on 3AW Football. "I've had a lot of people say to me they don't like it.
"To me, he deserves every accolade he can get, but I would rather see something like a jumper that is designed for the 300th than a gold number for the night. It's a team game, 'Richo', and I know you're having a go at me about being a stickler, but it's not about that.
"As a leader and as someone who bases everything about team, and that's what he does.
"I'm not saying he is making it about himself; this is being forced on him. Because I would be quite surprised that he would be comfortable with it.
"He is going to get every accolade a man can get, and he deserves every one of them, but a gold number on a night which says, ‘You're different from everybody else out on that field on that night for that reason', I feel uncomfortable with it.
Richmond legend Matthew Richardson disagreed, jokingly calling Shaw an "old stickler". Richardson said he liked the idea, as the record Pendlebury is about to break may never be broken again.
Pendlebury is one game behind (431) the current record holder, Brent Harvey, who broke the record while playing at North Melbourne in 2016.
