Collingwood premiership player Mick McGuane has launched at his former side on social media following their 15-point loss to Essendon on Friday night, per Fox Footy.

The Collingwood premiership player also aimed his displeasure with Steele Sidebottom, stating that the suspended star should take the loss "personally".

in a Twitter post, McGuane revealed his disgust towards the Collingwood playing group following their loss to the Bombers.

“The match committee @CollingwoodFC will be spinning the magnets this week,” he posted on Twitter.

“Too many playing with no effort and on reputations. And while we are on it Steele Sidebottom won’t sleep tonight. It might sound harsh but he will and should take this loss personally.”

In response to a follower's comment, McGuane added to his disappointment in Sidebottom.

“Not saying his reputation is tarnished Mark. I am a strong supporter of Steele, one of my favourite players. Just stating how he will be feeling,” he said.

“That’s how competitors feel when your team loses and without question he will be feeling responsible for contributing to the loss.”

The outcome of Friday night's performance has left McGuane calling for a number of changes to Nathan Buckley's side to play Hawthorn next week.

“Elliott, Hoskin-Elliott, Varcoe, Crisp (his ball use, ball handling and decision making tonight was poor) Wills, Phillips, both Brown’s struggled tonight, Cox all will have a nervous week,” he said.

Mason Cox struggled as a key target for Pies moving forward, managing just two disposals.

“Moore is a no brainer to go forward. I know he has been terrific back,” McGuane added on Twitter.

“They will look at Reid forward when he gets healthy again. Langdon is another defender to come back in. A player with Greenwood’s mongrel is what the team needed tonight. Adams / Maynard can’t be left do it all.”

McGuane went on to ask more from Buckley when the game began to get away from the Magpies.

“The balance between support the player and verbally challenge would have been seriously tested tonight,” he said.

“A strong message at half time was needed. Even some edits needed to be shown. Some of the ground level commitments were just not good enough. If accepted it spreads.”
