Collingwood defender Jordan Roughead has revealed his personal circumstances make him hesitant to leave Victoria and enter into a Western Australian hub over the coming weeks.

The Pies and Geelong will be the first two Victorian teams to spends three weeks in Perth after Round 6. While over there, they come up against one another and the two Western Australian clubs before returning home.

The length of time Collingwood will spend over in WA is a factor in Roughead's decision.

"There will certainly be players who are affected by it," Roughead said on SEN Breakfast.

"I won't give you too much detail but my wife has just had a pretty significant health scare and whether or not to enter the hub is one that I'll need to strongly consider on a personal front and certainly find out the detail of how long it is or the potential of families to come.

"I know we've got lots of guys who have kids and will want them with them.

"One of the challenges is you don't think about too much is do your love ones have to sit in hotel quarantine [while we're allowed out to train and play].

"There are still some logistical things that have to be looked at."

Roughead admits he needs to find out more information before he commits to a three-week stretch in Western Australia.

"I've got to ask some questions," he said.

"I've got to find out some information about what it looks like and what it looks like for myself and my wife."

Collingwood come up against GWS on Friday night at Giants Stadium.
