Richmond's AFLW outfit has announced that two-time Coleman medal winner Brendan Fevola will be joining the club's coaching ranks in a specialist role.

Fevola played 204 games at the elite level for Carlton (187 matches) and Brisbane (17) as one of the most damaging key forwards of his era, slotting 623 goals during his time.

The 44-year-old was named in the All-Australian side three times (2006, 2008 and 2009) and led the Blues' goal-kicking for seven years straight (2003-2009).

Fevola will utilise his immense talent and forward craft in his new role at the Tigers, helping develop the next wave of stars at the Punt Road club.

The champion goal-kicker has spent time at Collingwood in a coaching capacity, which ignited a desire to join the coaching ranks as well as in the Ovens and Murray League for Yarrawonga.

"I'm a specialist coach. I'll be doing a lot with the forwardsโ€ฆ. I'll be doing everything," Fevola said The Fox's Fifi, Fev & Nick.

"Obviously, my passion for women's footy, and I just love footy. So, they wanted me to be a specialist coach so I could help out the midfielders and the defenders.

"Over the summer, I caught up with Kate Sheahan (Richmond AFLW football operations manager). She was picking my brain about footy and (whether I would) like to pursue a coaching career.

"She saw what I did with Collingwood. I loved it. It really, really fired up the fire that had been put out in my body once I finished the AFL."

Sheahan said that Richmond's players would benefit greatly from Fevola's expertise and energy.

"To have a former champion of the game so passionate and invested in women's football is exactly the type of person we want involved in our program," Sheahan said.

"His energy is infectious; he has coached his own team, and his on-field resume speaks for itself. However, what has really stood out when talking to Brendanโ€”who is, of course, a father of four girlsโ€”is his genuine excitement for women's football.

"Brendan will regularly be on the track at our training sessions, and our players are thrilled to have him on board."
