A filthy Alastair Clarkson has said his players produced a "dreadful" performance lacking in resilience on Saturday.
North Melbourne was downed by 124 points by Fremantle in Round 13. The Dockers piled on 19 consecutive goals, while the Roos didn't kick a major after halftime.
"Fremantle were good and we were dreadful," Clarkson said in the post-game presser. "(The effort brings) a bit of shame because we want to be coming over here and putting on a better performance than we did today.
"We just couldn't get the game on our terms at any stage. Usually there's some ebbs and flows and you can get yourself back into the contest, but we just couldn't back into the contest which was really disappointing.
"We were dreadful in that space today.
"Scrap heap game that one. I'm trying to think of any positives we could take out of that game (but can't)."
North Melbourne mid-sized defender Riley Hardeman left the game in the second quarter after being concussed while tackling an opponent.
Clarkson, while not blaming the fact that his players were coming off the bye, did indicate that it is hard to find consistency in your preparation during the bye rounds.
The Roos will stay in Perth for the next week before taking on West Coast at Optus Stadium for a second time this season. An unusual result of the club's multi-million dollar deal with the Western Australian government to play two games a season in the state for three years.
