Champion Data has released their 2018 Brownlow Medal projection with hot favourite Tom Mitchell looking likely to take home the award next Monday.

Champion Data has the Hawthorn ball magnet collecting 29 votes to finish ahead of the two previous winners Dustin Martin and Patrick Dangerfield.

Martin and Dangerfield will collect 28 and 23 votes each respectively, according to the stats company.

Surprisingly, Champion Data believes Carlton superstar Patrick Cripps, one of the other favourites for the award will not be close to featuring in the top echelon of vote getters, having him finish in 29th spot with 12 votes.

It is believed Cripps will be hampered by his side finishing last on the ladder, registering only two wins for the year despite his historic individual statistics.

Cripps had the fifth-most disposals for the season and was second for clearances behind Tom Mitchell.

Cripps also set a record for contested possessions in a season surpassing Patrick Dangerfield who set the record in his Brownlow Medal winning season of 2016.

Another favourite, Melbourne big man Max Gawn will also not trouble Mitchell according to Champion Data.

The All-Australian ruckman is expected to fall well shy of Mitchell, collecting 18 votes.
