Geelong coach Chris Scott has confirmed key duo Scott Selwood and Jake Kolodjashnij will miss the opening round of the season.

Selwood will miss due to a toe injury and will be out for a few weeks, while Kolodjashnij has a groin complaint.

"Scott Selwood won't be available. He's had a super preseason and right at the death he's had this issue," Scott said.

"He'll be a couple of weeks away but he's turned the corner and his preseason means he won't be far away.

"Disappointing for us that Kolodjashnij is not available but hopefully he'll be right to play in the early weeks of the season."

Scott also flagged debuts for several youngsters who impressed in the JLT Series.

"Potentially we do (have some debutants for round one)," Scott said.

"We're excited about Zach Guthrie.

"Brandan Parfitt has impressed and Tom Stewart looks ready."
