Carlton general manager of football Chris Davies has said the club won't appoint a new list manager for the upcoming trade and draft period.
The Blues' former list manager Nick Austin departed the club after senior coach Michael Voss was sacked mid-season.
Speaking on SEN's AFL Nation, Davies said he feels comfortable with the staff Carlton already has on hand to cover them during the off-season.
"(Appointing a list manager) is still with me at the moment. I think for now, given we are towards the end of the season, I think it's more likely that we appoint someone for next year," Davies said on the SEN broadcast.
"But we're fortunate, we've still got some pretty experienced people in our recruiting and list management area and clearly our CEO (Graham Wright) has a significant history there and has taken an interest from a list perspective as well.
"So we feel like we can get through this next period. With Cody Walker potentially coming to us through the father-son, we're probably thinking about picks later in the draft anyway."
Walker, the son of 202-game Carlton player Andrew, is rated as a top-two prospect for the upcoming national draft.
The 18-year-old will cost Carlton a lot in draft picks/points, especially the deeper into finals the Blues can go.
However, Davies said he believes the club's pre-planning across the last 18 months means he is confident they can net the star junior midfielder.
"The more we win, clearly, the greater challenge it is (to get Walker), because at different points where you finish, you might have to have a (points) loading," he said.
"For us right now, we want to bring Cody in. We feel like we were well planned in doing some of the stuff that we needed in last year's trade period. But I guess you never know, we're going to have to work on the way that we can get him.
"I think having two first round picks this year, ours and Sydney's, two next year, a couple of second round picks; we've got some flexibility that we'll have to think about using when the trade period comes around."
