Carlton interim coach Josh Fraser has maintained he won't lobby for the permanent role despite an unbeaten start at the helm.
Fraser has turned the tide at Ikon Park since Michael Voss resigned last month, claiming wins against the Western Bulldogs, Port Adelaide and Geelong, placing the Blues in the Wildcard Round conversation.
A winnable month ahead against Essendon, GWS, West Coast and Richmond could result in Carlton levelling the win-loss record (8-8), but Fraser won't budge on his stance.
"I do respect the question but no, I haven't changed my mind," he said.
"I'm personally really big on not looking too far ahead. I think where we're at as a club it has to be about how we stack training sessions on top of each other, what our habits look like, and that's going to be really important heading into this week.
"We literally take that week-by-week approach given where we've been and where we're at, we can't afford to look too far ahead."
Fraser did acknowledge the improvement in the club's performances in recent weeks and how vindicating it felt to put his experiences and learnings into practice.
The former Pies player has coached Gold Coast, Carlton and Collingwood reserve sides since retiring at the end of 2012 as well as spending time as an assistant under Voss last year.
"I think it's reaffirmed the things I've been able to experience over my coaching journey," he said.
"I've been fortunate to coach my own teams in the past and you get an opportunity to test that knowledge and those learnings over time. I think the conversations and empowerment of the playing group, and the people around you, is something that's resonated for me.
"And then there's other little bits and pieces around the conversations you have and how important they can be, and the decision-making aspect of it.
"I've really enjoyed the opportunity so far and I'm continuing to still learn."
