Western Bulldogs ruckman Jordon Sweet will make his long-awaited AFL debut in Saturday's clash against Gold Coast.

Currently in his third year at the club, the 23-year old was drafted to the Bulldogs in the 2018 Rookie Draft and now gets his opportunity.

It could mean that veteran recruit Stefan Martin will be rested this weekend.

Sweet becomes the Bulldogs' third debutant in 2021, joining Anthony Scott and Lachie McNeil.

The Bulldogs announced Sweet's debut in a video on social meeting, with star midfielder Jack Macrae revealing the good news to the playing group.

"It's a huge honour to be standing up here and something that brings me great joy to make this announcement," Macrae said.

"This player has had to wait a few years and really take his game and developed it and really grown as a person as well. I've had the great pleasure to grow quite close to him over the years.

"It brings me a lot of joy to announce that Jordon Sweet will play his first game."

An overjoyed Sweet was simply "speechless" upon learning he would play his first AFL game.

"I'm speechless... thank you to the coaches," Sweet said.

"I'm speechless at the moment, I haven't got much for you. Other than, thank you to all the boys for getting around me and supporting me for the three years I've been here.|

"So yeah, thank you."

For the fantasy coaches in the room, Sweet has ruckman status and will set you back $123,900 in SuperCoach (Breakeven 24) and $170,000 in AFL Fantasy (BE 25).

The undefeated Bulldogs will look to record their fifth-straight win when they host the Suns at Marvel Stadium on Saturday at 4.35pm AEST.
