Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley has provided injury updates on Pies trio Lynden Dunn, Ben Reid and Taylor Adams.

The most notable news surrounds Dunn, who will return to the VFL this weekend after recovering from an ACL injury.

Dunn sustained the injury in Collingwood's win over Gold Coast in round 14 last season, and will make his return to the field less than nine months after the incident.

“He’ll play in the VFL this week, so it’s a really positive bit of news for us,” Buckley said in a press conference on Tuesday.

“Nine months of recovery and rehab and has pushed very hard through pre-season to get himself up as early as he possibly can.

“He’ll get over a half of VFL time this week and be looking to push his claims in the next month or so.”

Buckley said Reid wouldn't play in the VFL for another two weeks, while Adams saw the surgeon this week after undergoing an operation on his finger.

The Pies could find a way to get Brayden Sier or Levi Greenwood in the side, after Buckley mentioned them as the players closing in on selection.

"Sier and [Rupert] Wills performed really well last week (in the VFL). Levi will be in the mix for us. [Flynn] Appleby also had a really good game in the two's. We’ll be picking the best 22 to get the job done."
