Geelong legend Jimmy Bartel has slammed Fremantle for another pitiful performance in a final after the Dockers were demolished by Hawthorn.
Speaking on the 3AW broadcast, Bartel said Fremantle went back to its old boring way of football as the Hawks tore the Dockers apart on their home deck.
"It's two finals they have lost in a row where the moment has got a hold of them here for Freo," Bartel said.
"They fell back into old habits. They were slow, they were laborious, they were cumbersome and again they filled their boots as a back six. Their back six is happy with knocking up touches and they're under pressure and Hawthorn pulled them apart."
Fremantle has now lost its past two finals at home in games the Dockers were favourites to win. More disappointingly, Fremantle had won 12 games at home prior and had just secured the club's second minor premiership.
On the other side of the coin, Bartel was full of praise for Hawthorn's effort and output.
"They were better in the contest," he said.
"They looked better organised. They were willing to work even harder. They worked extremely hard Hawthorn to get back and slow Freo down and then Freo just played into their hands.
"But as soon as (the Hawks) got the ball back the Hawks took off. They made the ground big and their mid-sized forwards and small forwards were electric.
"(James) Sicily, (Josh) Battle, (Tom) Barrass, you even throw in (Bailey) Macdonald down there, (Josh) Weddle, they just had the game under complete control all night."
