The Brisbane Lions will be without Kai Lohmann and Logan Morris in Sunday's QClash against the Gold Coast Suns after both were unable to get through main training on Thursday.

Lohmann has been injury-plagued this season ever since an ankle injury in Round 1. The premiership hero has not played in two consecutive games this season, returning from his ankle concern initially in Round 3 before being sidelined again until last week against St Kilda.

The 21-year-old was subbed out again in the Saints clash, following a sternum concern and has not fully recovered in time to be considered for selection, according to AFL.com.au's Michael Whiting.

Additionally, young star Logan Morris will not play after feeling calf soreness. The medium-sized forward has been damaging in his second season and has stepped up in Joe Daniher's absence, kicking 13 goals across all seven matches so far in 2025.

The forward line losses could be costly for the Lions, who have yet to see much domination on the scoreboard from recruit Sam Day, while Eric Hipwood has only had an uptick in scoring since Gather Round.

The onus will be placed upon Hipwood and the premiership smalls to deliver this weekend against a red-hot Gold Coast side whose only fault this season was in a shock loss to Brisbane. The Suns have been one of the best sides defensively this season too, ranked fourth for points conceded per game on average.

The injuries could lead the way for young forward Ty Gallop to make his debut, however. The 2024 draftee is performing well at VFL level, including a four-goal outing against Collingwood's state-league side.

Full teams are officially announced at 6:20pm on Thursday.
