Young Brisbane forward Will McLachlan is expected to make a call regarding his future in the next couple of days.
McLachlan does have an offer in front of him from the Lions, who want to keep the mid-season recruit, but he met with Melbourne and Essendon on Monday.
"I think he's got a couple of discussions to have this week, and we're hopeful of knowing his position by the middle of the week," Lions list boss Dom Ambrogio said on Monday.
"We are extremely keen on retaining Will. There's been multiple offers in front of him."
The Geelong Falcons product was picked up in the mid-season by the Lions in 2024, and he made his debut in 2025, but only featured once this year during Brisbane's three-peat season.
He has struggled to land a spot in the Lions forward line, being behind the established stars in front of him with the likes of Kai Lohmann, Zac Bailey, Logan Morris, Oscar Allen and Eric Hipwood, culminating in him only playing in seven AFL matches.
He has shown he is better than VFL level; however, he kicked 35 goals in 11 games for them in 2026, including hauls of seven and eight straight, showing why he is being touted by other clubs.
McLachlan was named in the 2026 VFL Team of the Year squad.
Other Lions already on the move include Lachie Neale to Collingwood, while Sam Marshall has requested a trade back to Victoria, and it was revealed Keidean Coleman is open to a move away.
