Brisbane coach Chris Fagan remains uncertain about his future beyond tomorrow's Grand Final against Fremantle as speculation heightens over whether 2026 will be his last year.
Fagan has been vocal about his uncertainty about remaining as the Lions' senior coach over the past few years, but after four consecutive Grand Finals, is now the time right?
"I'm only worried about the game tomorrow," Fagan said.
"Every year for the past two or three years, I have had a chat with our CEO and our president about when the right time is for me to finish up.
"This is my 10th year. I've been going for a while. I'll get through this game and probably have the usual chat that I've had every other year post this game and see what happens.
Close friend of Fagan's and fellow Lions coaching great Leigh Matthews also speculated whether this would be his last game earlier in the week.
Matthews said on Fox Footy: “It's a lifestyle that you're going to have to be prepared to live, and at some point in his time he might decide ‘I don't want to do that anymore'.
“But this has been the situation, I would have thought, the last few years, so it's nothing new much really.”
Which Fagan responded to by saying: "It's fair enough to speculate about it, but I honestly don't know, right at this point in time, whether I'll cop going or not.
"But I was like that last year, and the year before, so I've got to work out the right time to go. There will be a few more discussions about that, but it's not the big issue. We've got to play a game tomorrow."
