Brisbane have confirmed first-year Lions Academy product Ty Gallop will debut at AFL level on Friday night against Adelaide.
Gallop was drafted to the Lions out of Maroochydore as the 42nd overall pick in last year's AFL Draft, with Brisbane able to match Geelong's bid for the teenager given their Academy access.
The 194cm forward impressed over the pre-season to stake his claim as a starter in Chris Fagan's side, which lost premiership spearhead Joe Daniher to retirement over the off-season.
Gallop was required to bide his time for a debut, with the 19-year-old playing nine VFL games for the Lions' reserves, booting a return of 13 goals and nine behinds
His season-high haul came in April in a clash with Collingwood when Gallop kicked four goals against the Magpies in a one-point win.
โIt's really exciting to make my debut and even more so under the Friday night lights at Adelaide Oval as it should be a great atmosphere,โ Gallop said of his debut.
โBeing an emergency for a few weeks in a row and being around the boys has been a great opportunity to see how they prepare and get ready for the game.
โMy expectations are to just go out and compete, get as many contests as I can and play my role.โ
The inclusion of Gallop confirms at least one change for the Lions, who could be set for a change in the ruck department as Oscar McInerney pushes for a return after three weeks out of action.
Young forward Will McLachlan has put his name forward for selecton after kicking five goals in the VFL over the weekend too.
Brisbane will name their 23-player side at 6:20pm (AEST) on Thursday, with final teams to be confirmed an hour prior to Friday's 7:40pm bounce at Adelaide Oval, where the Lions will face Adelaide.
