Port Adelaide star Chad Wingard has nominated Hawthorn as his preferred destination, as he looks to leave South Australia during the upcoming trade period.

Wingard has spent the past seven seasons at the Power, and was named to the All Australian team in 2013 and 2015.

Hawthorn have pipped the Dogs in the chase for Wingard, with the Bulldogs confirming their interest in Wingard earlier in the week.
