GWS academy graduate Riley Hamilton has signed a one-year extension after strong form in the VFL to start his career at the Giants.

Hamilton joined the club in the latest off-season as a Category B Rookie, and was uncontracted beyond this year.

Zero Hanger understands the high-flying forward has extended his time at GWS for another season, locking in a deal for 2027.

The 19-year-old has averaged 14.9 disposals, 4.1 marks, 2.6 tackles and two goals in eight outings. He's kicked multiple majors in all but one week.

Hamilton was overlooked in his 2024 draft year following an ACL injury that ruined his season, but showed glimpses in the Giants Academy and the four games he played in the VFL.

He returned to the academy last year, and was named the 2025 Giants Academy player of the year, damaging in the front half of the ground in the air and on the floor.

Hamilton performed strongly in the national championships for the Allies last year, slotting seven goals in four outings, and continued to ply his trade in GWS' reserves, playing another four matches, including the Wildcard Round clash against Richmond.

"Riley is a Giants Academy product from Canberra who had a strong year as a 19-year-old as part of the Academy, Allies and even VFL level. He has played a lot as a hybrid, marking forward with an elite vertical leap and good recovery when the ball hits the ground, but we feel there is scope for him to develop off half-back or on the wing over the coming years," GWS head of talent Adrian Caruso said in November.

He joined the club alongside Oskar Taylor (Pick 15) and Finnegan Davis (Pick 51).
