Dan Richardson, Essendon General Manager of Football, has stated that the club is interested Gold Coast midfielder Jack Martin.

Even though the Bombers want Martin, Richardson thinks that it will be very difficult to get him to Victoria since he is still contracted to the Suns.

โ€œThe interest is there, but that said, he is contracted,โ€ Richardson told SEN Breakfast.

โ€œIโ€™d be surprised if a club like the Gold Coast, who are obviously under a bit of pressure to retain players at the moment, Iโ€™d imagine heโ€™d still continue to play the Gold Coast next year.

โ€œThereโ€™s some interest there from us and itโ€™s been well documented that weโ€™re interested into bolstering our midfield, so I guess he fits that category.

โ€œBut that said, Iโ€™d surprised if he leaves the Gold Coast.โ€

Rumors were put to rest last month when Suns CEO Mark Evans shut down any trade talks about him.

โ€œHeโ€™s got a year on his current contract and weโ€™ll look to extend that," Evans said.

Martin has played 81 games for the Gold Coast Suns since being drafted in the 2012 mini draft and has scored 73 goals.
