Dan Richardson, Essendon General Manager of Football, has stated that the club is interested Gold Coast midfielder Jack Martin.

Even though the Bombers want Martin, Richardson thinks that it will be very difficult to get him to Victoria since he is still contracted to the Suns.

“The interest is there, but that said, he is contracted,” Richardson told SEN Breakfast.

“I’d be surprised if a club like the Gold Coast, who are obviously under a bit of pressure to retain players at the moment, I’d imagine he’d still continue to play the Gold Coast next year.

“There’s some interest there from us and it’s been well documented that we’re interested into bolstering our midfield, so I guess he fits that category.

“But that said, I’d surprised if he leaves the Gold Coast.”

Rumors were put to rest last month when Suns CEO Mark Evans shut down any trade talks about him.

“He’s got a year on his current contract and we’ll look to extend that," Evans said.

Martin has played 81 games for the Gold Coast Suns since being drafted in the 2012 mini draft and has scored 73 goals.
