Both Carlton and Fremantle have come away from Saturday night's clash with injury concerns to key personnel, with both sides seeing their ruckmen subbed out of the Dockers' 35-point win.

Carlton were forced to bring medical substitute Jordan Boyd into the match at quarter-time after Marc Pittonet sustained a knee injury in the opening term.

The Blues tall, who has ranked as the most efficient ruckman in the league this season, suffered the setback in a ruck contest with Docker Sean Darcy, soon seen grappling his left knee in the middle of Optus Stadium before being assisted off the field.

His teammate and star forward Harry McKay was in and out of the match, having received medical attention on his knee on multiple occasions throughout the night.

McKay was able to play out the game, however was limited to just the three disposals and a goal.

Speaking post-match, Carlton coach Michael Voss stated there was some concern for his twin talls ahead of their Round 7 clash with North Melbourne next Saturday night.

"McKay had a grumble. We'll have a look at that. I am not sure what that actually is," Voss said.

"It was certainly affecting some of his movement tonight and his ability to get up and down the ground. He got through and hope whatever is affecting him is quite minor.

"We'll get (Pittonet) assessed on Monday, but we feel it's a significant corkie at this stage. We tried to get him going but he just wasn't able to run.

"It's on the front of his knee, so he wasn't able to get going. Really hoping we have dodged further damage there."

The Dockers were also required to pull the trigger on their medical sub, with Darcy suffering a concussion in the third quarter.

The head knock will see the Fremantle big-man automatically miss his side's clash with Geelong next Saturday in what will be a major blow for the 5-1 Dockers.

Senior coach Justin Longmuir is likely to call on second-string ruckman Loyd Meek for their Round 7 bout at Kardinia Park, while the Dockers will also be buoyed by the anticipated returns of Heath Chapman and Hayden Young, who missed the win over the Blues due to health and safety protocols.

In-form midfielder Will Brodie also required attention on his thigh during the match, but was able to continue after receiving heavy strapping.

Fremantle will enter next week placed in the top four after the opening six rounds, while the Blues could slide to eighth should Geelong and Hawthorn collect wins in the coming days.
