Carlton has announced David Cuningham will make a long-awaited return against the Gold Coast Suns at the MCG on Sunday afternoon.

Cuningham, who played back-to-back VFL games before his senior selection on Friday, has been absent from AFL action since 2021 as a result of burdensome injuries to his knee, calf, and shoulder.

Addressing the media on Friday, Blues coach Michael Voss confirmed the stellar news.

"What I can confirm is David Cuningham is going to play," Voss said.

"He's had a long time out of the game, and for him to be able to go through what he's gone through in the last two years ... we feel he's ready to go.

"He had a really good game last week ... he'll add something a bit different to what we've had in there recently."

Uncapped youngster Jaxon Binns and ex-Cat Lachie Fogarty are others who find themselves in the Blues' selection frame for this weekend after impressing at VFL level in recent weeks.

Carlton's complete side to take on the Suns is set to be announced on Friday at 5:00pm AEST.
