Fremantle star Harley Bennell could again be in hot water after it was alleged he was involved in an altercation in a Fremantle nightclub on Sunday night.

Video footage obtained by Channel Seven show a man involved in a scuffle with security guards inside Club 189 in Fremantle, with bystanders claiming the man involved was the AFL midfielder.

In a statement released by the football club, Fremantle officials declared they are aware of "a matter involving a player at a licensed premises."

"The club is making enquiries and will be in a position to comment further when that process is completed," the statement read.

The allegations could put Bennell's AFL future under a cloud as he is no stranger to off-field controversy, having previously been reprimanded for an alcohol-fuelled incident on the Gold Coast along with photos emerging of Bennell with a white powder, alleged to be illicit drugs among a long list of indiscretions.

To make matters worse for Bennell, he then failed to attend training on Monday morning, Fremantle's first since the Christmas break.
