Essendon ruckman Tom Bellchambers could find himself sidelined for the remainder of the 2019 season after suffering an Achilles injury on Thursday night.

Bellchambers limped from the field in the third quarter of his side's comeback win over GWS at Marvel Stadium, and may have suffered two injuries to his leg during the contest.

The ruckman is believed to have strained his calf, while also sustaining an Achilles injury, although the Herald Sun understands he hasn't ruptured his Achilles, which could keep his season alive.

In Bellchambers' absence, Shaun McKernan and Cale Hooker shared the ruck duties for the final term, with the pair kicking the final two goals of the games for the Dons.
