Richmond legend Kevin Bartlett has revealed his tips for round one, and told listeners on SEN's KB & The Doc to follow his tips, given he believes he'll get all nine correct.

Bartlett said there were only three certainties from the opening round, with the Tigers, Saints and Power all locks to record round one victories.

The former Tiger said a number of games were up for grabs, but was confident in all of his selections, giving reasons for every result.

"Let’s get off to a flying start in Round 1," Bartlett began in his usual segment KB's Take at the start of every show.

"Let’s look at the certainties; Richmond to beat Carlton. St Kilda over Brisbane. Port Adelaide at home to Fremantle.

"GWS in Manuka will beat the Doggies, and Sydney on the road will be too good for the Eagles.

"Up for grabs are Essendon vs. Adelaide, Melbourne & Geelong, Hawthorn vs. Collingwood and Gold Coast vs. Nth Melbourne.

"I say, take the Bombers at home, give the Hawks a tick and Gold Coast win for their new coach Stuey Dew.

"The swinging game is Melbourne vs. Geelong, but after much thought it’s the Cats with Ablett, Dangerfield and Selwood to upset the Dees.

"Now there’s nine winners, that’s the best start to win the tipping competition."
